On show at Fuorisalone 2025
From 7 April 2025, Milan is hosting a powerful and symbolic urban installation, one of the highlights of this year’s Fuorisalone: “Almas: Voices of Courage”, promoted by the CESVI Foundation and Atelier Spazio Xpò.
The 72-metre work, created in the Tunnel Reload in Via Padova, is part of the official Fuorisalone calendar and addresses gender-based violence and women’s resilience.
A unique opportunity to discover an art project that combines social commitment and urban art, open to visitors only during Fuorisalone week, in the heart of one of Milan’s most multicultural neighbourhoods.
A visual story of strength and rebirth
The installation, by the artist Pablo Pinxit, uses the stencil-poster art technique and runs along both sides of the tunnel: one side depicts the symbols and values of women’s resilience, while the other mirrors the work with iconic quotes from influential women.
The route is completed by photographic portraits of women supported by the CESVI project, giving a face and a human dimension to stories of strength and redemption.
Curator Christian Gancitano highlights the choice of soft tones and floral motifs to represent rebirth, hope and empowerment.
A visual language perfectly in tune with the innovative and social spirit of Fuorisalone, of which it is part.
A shared, participatory work, on show this week
The opening was attended by local institutional representatives, including Gaia Romani (City of Milan), Simone Locatelli (Municipio 2) and other local councillors, as well as CESVI President Gloria Zavatta and Deputy Director General Roberto Vignola.
Romani described the regenerated tunnel as “a space given back to the community”, conveying a strong message of women’s empowerment and social inclusion.
A message that resonates even more strongly this week, thanks to the visibility offered by Fuorisalone 2025.
The ALMAS project: beyond art, a real impact
Behind the work lies a concrete initiative: the ALMAS project, active in Colombia, supports the social and economic inclusion of 1,200 women, among them vulnerable Venezuelan migrants and Colombian women.
The programme offers guidance, training, psychological support, legal assistance and the promotion of women’s entrepreneurship.
In a context where 7 million people have left Venezuela, and women are particularly exposed to exploitation and poverty, ALMAS aims to guarantee autonomy and dignity, also through the transformative power of art.
As Vignola points out, many of the women involved have already started small businesses that offer a real chance of social integration.
